Artemide Wins Three Red Dot Awards for Cata, Demetra, Rea

The Red Dot Design Awards 2014 official awards ceremony, one of the main international product design awards for quality and excellence addressed to leading manufacturers and designers, took place in July in Essen, Germany.

Artemide received three Red Dot Design Awards 2014 for the appliances Cata, Demetra, and Rea.

Cata, designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, is an LED projector created after a thorough research on accent lighting: conceived for museums, it is also perfectly suitable for retail and hospitality venues. The use of transparent materials combined with reflecting surfaces allows this light fitting to blend unobstrusively into any environment, nearly dematerializing in space.

Demetra, designed by Naoto Fukasawa, is a table lamp defined by a sophisticated mechanical approach, with fully adjustable, revolving, and tilting arms and diffuser and a new generation LED source installed in the head of the light fitting. This lamp is a perfect interpretation of Artemide ‘more with less’ philosophy.

Demetra is now also available as wall, spotlight and reading light, and in dark grey, white, and titanium finishes.

Rea is designed by Neil Poulton. This wall lamp, available in two sizes (120mm and 170 mm), is distinguished by its soft, formal design. Made of two corresponding perpendicular discs, one functioning as wall-mounted support and one as housing for the LED optical unit, this fitting produces an indirect diffused light with a 90% output.

Rea is now available in white, bronze, gold, and titanium finishes.

Same as all Artemide light fittings, Cata, Demetra, and Rea convey high-level design and provide clear evidence of Artemide constant commitment – through its research – towards developing technological and innovative lighting systems. These light fittings also ensure a maximum energy efficiency, while reducing waste and improving the quality of human life and our relation with the environment and his surroundings.
