Carrier has launched its water-cooled, variable-speed, screw chiller line, the AquaEdge 23XRV series, with Greenspeed intelligence, in the UK.

This innovative, tri-rotor screw-compressor chiller complements and enhances the existing 30XWV AquaForce range of twin-screw compressor units. The two technologies give clients the widest range available for this product segment. The 23XRV range, formerly known as the ‘Evergreen’ chiller, has won many awards around the world in the last few years and has been improved and extended for its UK launch.

HVAC system purchasers, specifiers and designers in the UK will remember the remarkable impact the Carrier air-cooled Aquasnap chiller series had in the market a few years back. This range offered a real technological alternative. It provided outstanding energy efficiency and performance for smaller sizes of chiller.

The earlier Carrier Aquasnap won several UK awards and penetrated the market well. Despite this, water-cooled air conditioning has still not become the UK market’s first choice technology. Nevertheless, it is acknowledged that it has its place and the market potential remains - it is often one of the most efficient choices possible when selecting air conditioning solutions.

Additionally, with the extension of the 30XWV AquaForce range down to 600 kW earlier in this year, Carrier justifiably leads the industry with environmentally responsible chiller offerings from 600 to 1900 kW.

Carrier AquaEdge 23XRV is also believed to be the world’s first fully integrated, variable-speed, water-cooled screw chiller range, and it incorporates significant breakthroughs in water-cooled technology to achieve exceptional performance and reliability.

The AquaEdge 23XRV uses non-ozone depleting HFC-134a refrigerant and patented tri-rotor compression technology, making it one of the most efficient, reliable and durable chillers in the industry.

“The AquaEdge 23XRV range adds a new level of flexibility for building owners and makes it much more interesting for possible UK applications,” stated Carrier’s UK MD Richard Jones, who has been keen to introduce new technologies and new Carrier models into the UK in 2014. “These new models can provide an ideal solution for new, water-cooled chiller systems.”

The AquaEdge 23XRV can achieve Part L PSEER’s (Plant Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratios) in excess of 10. With Integrated Part Load Values (IPLV), as low as 0.299 kW/Ton, the 23XRV exceeds the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 90.1 efficiency standards by as much as 44 percent.
