Legrand CitizenM Hotel

Wiring accessories specialist, Legrand, has helped to deliver the funky, contemporary look being pioneered by hotel chain citizenM at the ‘affordable luxury’ chain’s Bankside hotel in London.

Billed as a ‘new breed’ of hotels with properties in London, Glasgow and Amsterdam, citizenM hotels feature trendy rooms with XL king-size beds, rain showers and Wi-Fi access. Designed for domestic guests and overseas travellers alike, citizenM boasts an international plug system in every room and Legrand supplied a wide range of sockets, push buttons, switches, USB outlets and data sockets from its Arteor range to complement the contemporary styling of the interior.

The modular nature of the Arteor range made it an ideal choice for citizenM, enabling the hotel chain to choose a combination of finishes that blend with the hotel’s interior design. citizenM selected ‘Magnesium’ interiors with Arteor’s contrasting stainless steel surround plates. The company also requested that the function of each switch or push button be engraved onto the rocker and Legrand custom-engraved more than 1,500 units in response to the brief.

Explains Richard Hayward from Legrand’s wiring devices business: “Arteor rockers can be engraved with symbols as standard but citizenM had a very clear idea of what they wanted to match the edgy, modern style of their interior. Legrand’s ability to custom-make bespoke wiring accessories meant that we were able to realise their vision and the end result provides a perfect fit with the contemporary interior scheme.”
